THINKINAZUL (2022-2025)
Coordinated by Jaume Pérez-Sánchez (IATS-CSIC) and Carlos Valle (universidad de Alicante)
GVA-ThinKInAzul, with a budget of 10 million euros, is the first of the eight thematic areas of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Program that has started in the Valencian Community. These programs are promoted by the MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND INNOVATION with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) within the framework of the NextGenerationEU initiative.
The GVA-ThinkInAzul has planned more than 100 tasks in three lines of action, with the ultimate objective of promoting the conservation of the marine and coastal environment, and a sustainable aquaculture production for the improvemente of blue economy.
Up to 39 research groups (more than 300 researchers) participate in GVA-ThinInAzul, from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (13), Universidad de Alicante (8), CSIC (8), Universidad de Valencia (4), Universidad Miguel Hernández de Alicante (3), Universidad Jaume I (2) anf Universidad Católica de Valencia (1). Their different and complementary capacities allows a holistic approach to the current state of climate emergency, that is especially relevant in the Mediterranean Area. The project is structured in 7 workpackages: Environmental monitoring, Diversification and reproduction, Nutrition and welfare, Health , Food quality and safety, Aquaculture and environment interaction, and Blue economy and citizen science.
